TRAINING AND PRESENTATION OF FIREFIGHTING VEHICLES ORGANIZED FOR MEMBERS OF VOLUNTARY FIREFIGHTING TEAM “MLAVA” IN KREPOLJIN
As a part of the activities realized within the project “Firefighters and emergency management Recaș – Žagubica”, during the previous week a training for members of Voluntary firefighting team was organized in Krepoljin, as well as presentation of work of firefighting vehicles. With participation of Dr Goran Djordjevic, Head of Emergency situation center, representatives of local self-government, local community and members of Firefighting unit from Žagubica, representatives of the company AC PEDA Jagodina who delivered the vehicles and company KARBA from Turkey, presented main functions and possibilities of the forest firefighting vehicle ISUZU and firefighting cistern MAN KARBA. Besides getting acquainted with technical characteristics of delivered vehicles, members of the Voluntary firefighting team from Krepoljin along with the members of the Firefighting team from Žagubica have had an opportunity to perform all the operations necessary for putting the vehicles in operation, from filling the cisterns by hydrant water to activating high-pressure pumps and simulating extinguishing fires with fire nozzles and firefighting cannon, with the assistance of certified maintenance workers. Worthy to mention, Voluntary firefighting team from Krepoljin is the first Team established according to the new Law on voluntary firefighting and is equipped with all necessary equipment including static firefighting pumps, complete set of assail tools and protective gear for the members of Voluntary firefighting team.
This has been the third training organized for the members of the Voluntary firefighting team. During the previous period, trainings and presentation of the operations of static firefighting pumps were organized, as well as the trainings for working with the assail tools, and getting acquainted with the elements of the protective firefighting gear for firefighters.
Organized training and the presentation of work of firefighting vehicles were attended by Dr Goran Djordjevic, Head of Emergency situations sector of Branicevski District, who pointed out that establishment of the Voluntary firefighting team “Mlava” in Krepoljin is of extraordinary significance for the sector of fire protection in this part of Homolje, as well as for the municipality Žagubica and neighboring local communities. Djordjevic stressed that, establishment of Voluntary firefighting team, forming of operational firefighting unit and procurement of equipment, all in accordance with the Law on voluntary firefighting, have created the preconditions for more efficient acting in emergency situations sector, and above all in the sector of fire protection, preventive as much as repressive.
Main objective of the Project “Firefighters and emergency management Recaș-Žagubica” is to improve conditions for emergency situation response in cross-border communities, strengthen local stakeholders and contribute to more efficient action in fire protection cases, which will altogether significantly contribute to decrease of the damages caused by fires. Activities implemented through this project will identify current situation related to potential risks, define emergency situation response and action strategy, and enhance information and knowledge of citizens in the area of environment protection. Project also envisions procurement of firefighting vehicles and equipment which will contribute to more efficient and faster response in cases of fires, as well as establishment of Voluntary firefighting team.
Project “Firefighters and emergency management Recaș-Žagubica” is being implemented within the INTERREG IPA Cross-border cooperation Programme Romania-Serbia financed by the European Union, through the Instrument of Pre-accession assistance (IPA II). Implementation of the Project has begun in June 2017 and will last until the May 2019. Total budget of the Project amounts 1.414.018 euro, of which European union is financing 1.201.915,30 euro, and Municipalities Recaș and Žagubica are co-financing the project with 212.102.70 euro.
